Part III: Your Still On Steroids Q & A With Brian Cannone

Hi Brain,
I'm sorry if I offended you. I really wasn't saying you are doing
something wrong or certainly not that I can put on a better show than you.
I actually am impressed with the turn out and quality of your show. I wish
I was involved more. I know you have a passion for the sport as do I. I'm
just very frustrated when I see how people cheat the system and are able
to get away with it. Not because you let them but because they can cheat
the system even though you are doing your best trying to control it. I
wish there was a better way. I don't have the answer. I'm ignorant to what it takes to put on a show so a lot of my comments were assuming certain things, sorry.
Since I was 12yrs old I've always wanted to become a professional
bodybuilder. It is hard to swallow that I can not pursue my dream because
I don't want to harm my body by doing drugs, which is required.
This is why it is so frustrating to me to see it in the NATURAL shows too.
Thanks for the input. I guess as you said "It is what it is". I know you
can't control everyone or possibility test everyone thoroughly enough to
get the full truth but you are doing the best with what you're dealt.
Also, thanks for telling me what I'm doing is being negative and bashing
the sport. YOU ARE RIGHT! I should put this energy into finding a better
way or if not just compete for myself and promote the sport.
Once again sorry for offending you. It was bothering me so much I really
wanted to get it from the horses mouth.
Thanks, John
Dear John,
Thanks for understanding.
The only way to keep people off drugs is to urine drug test them every week at a moments notice - but due to the expense we wouldn't have any sports if that was the case. Each test is about $130.00 and has to be done by a nurse with the proper chain of custody.
Is it possible some people may cheat - but I don't agree with it.
I don't feel people that use steroids are informed enough to go on and off to pass drug tests - most people using steroids are no better than people that use street drugs - they have no real idea what they are doing as the drugs are not legal and they are buying them without enough information.
I'll tell you I am not jealous of anyone sticking themselves - how do they live with themselves - imagine how self-conscious they must be to go to that level. It is actually very sad.
Bodybuilding is a niche market - some bodybuilders are class acts - great people and outstanding athletes - some are just meatheads and low-life's that give a very knowledgeable sport that could do with good health, low-body fat levels, balanced lifestyles and just ruin it.
Most people don't accept bodybuilding because they don't understand it. Anyone looking to lower their body fat and build some muscle tone is a bodybuilder - but say "bodybuilder" to anyone and they first think is "steroids".
Thanks,
Brian
