Natural Bodybuilder Jamel Keels

Being a former Division 1 football player on a national championship team at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut I thought he knew what hard and dedication was all about. Football laid the groundwork and taught me all about hard work and determination. Triple sessions in the August heat and 6 am off-season works were physical challenges I faced until I began preparing for my first bodybuilding show.

Six weeks out I weighed in at 206 pounds with 10.4% body fat. I was told in order to look good on stage I would have to at 6% at the highest. Through six weeks of intense dieting and cardio I went from 206 pounds to 181 pounds with my body fat well under 4%. I attribute the success I encountered during my first show to my diet and cardio routines.

Lifting weights have never been a problem for me. It was just the cardio, which I hate and eating right just never appealed to me. I pushed my cardio workouts to the limits. I started every morning with a 3.5-mile run along with another run walk hour on the treadmill before my evening workouts. Pre-contest my workouts tend to be very body part specific and take no more then an hour.

Bodybuilder Jamel Keels Aside from being dedicated to creating a perfect physique, I have a passion for teaching young children. Not only was I preparing for my first show, but I also teaching first grade and coaching lacrosse at independent school in New Canaan, CT.

At age 22, my goals in bodybuilding are very simple. I want to improve from show to show and continue to maintain an equal balance between workouts, work, and my social life. Right now I am currently training for Superbody down in Miami on June 21, 2003 and Musclemania New England October 11, 2003 in Boston.
