Natural Bodybuilder Rob Morton
The highlight of my career was after being partially paralyzed from the waist down for 10 months, Getting down from 230 lbs to 163 lbs with 3% body fat (in 9 months) for my first show and placing 2nd, then coming back the next year winning the 2000 USBF Bodybuilding Championships.
The biggest disappointment of my career was taking advice from someone that knew nothing about nutrition and eating 3 1/2 dozen egg whites a day...little did I know that egg whites have 55 mg of sodium per egg white, and I was wondering why I was holding water all over the place (Oh I know now*smile*)
In bodybuilding learned that I had to fall in love with my every body part and that anytime you don't fall in love with your body, in this sport, lacking body parts stick out and display the lack of love you showed it. As natural bodybuilders, we are already ahead of 80% of the people in the world that don't really show love for their bodies.
What I like most about bodybuilding is the tenacity it takes to succeed, Bodybuilding, Scholastic Wrestling and Track & Field are the hardest sports in the world, hands down, and there is not another sport where you are required to put forth as much intensity, as these.
In bodybuilding find out who is in your corner, and keep them there, surround yourself with people that will tell you what you need to hear, not feed your ego. Prove all the naysayer wrong NATURALLY... Never Quit.... In life, let the record show you won, let it show you lost, let it show you had hits, and let it show you struck out, but don't EVER let it show you didn't PLAY......how could you ever explain that?
I am an aspiring actor I figure I can act a fool anyway, why not get paid for it *LOL* I was in a movie called Liberty Heights which was filmed in Baltimore. I'm also a Calendar Model and one thing you didn't know...I used to be partially paralyzed from the waist down and got up to 285lbs I still have 2 cracks in my spine. Which is why I'm here today, I never stopped and I work HARD...and play even HARDER.... despite the fact that I still have 2 cracks in my spine.
Training Schedule is as follows:
2 days on & 1 day off using a push/pull method of training
· Day One: Chest/Biceps
· Day Two: Legs (Both Quads & Hams)
· Day Three: Rest
· Day Four: Shoulders & Traps
· Day Five: Back & Triceps
I utilize 2 methods of training and they change by the week. This would be during the Maintaining Phase (MP) as well Conditioning Phase (CP) of my training, both Pre and Post season. They consist of both a mass building and strength building process.
· MP & CP Phase 1, I do all moves for 4 sets of 12-15 reps on every move.
· MP & CP Phase 2, I do all moves for 7 sets of 7 reps on every move using extreme amounts of weight.
My nutrition schedule changes depending on where I am during the year. I follow a nutrition guide that is designed to enhance my physique based on my blood type, which happens to be A+. I'm a strong believer in having your nutrition administered this way because your body metabolizes food differently either promoting weight gain or weight loss depending on your blood type versus the types of food you consume. Below is an actual nutrition plan that I've used to prepare for a competition in 2004:
