Natural Bodybuilder Jude Achu

Jude Achu was 18 years old when he and his family moved to the United States from Nigeria West Africa. In New York his family carried out a diplomatic mission of Nigeria to the United Nation.

Prior to moving to the United States, Jude had graduated from high school and was involved in his family business. He managed a business center where he excelled. He had played soccer for a league in Nigeria and was in the Nigerian Air Force for where he was one of the top junior boxers.

Life in the United States is fun for Jude as he is always looking forward to continuing to educate himself and grow. Just five months after being in the United States Jude enrolled in one of New York City's top technical institutes, The Technical Career Institute of Technology. Here Jude earned his Associates Degree in Industrial Technology. At the same time Jude started college he also secured a job working as a guard at the Nigerian Embassy.

Jude found this schedule to be very challenging as he attended classes and worked the evening shift. In between classes and his job, Jude represented his college as an Assistant Captain of their soccer team. After finishing college Jude moved from New York, away from his family, to live on his own in Connecticut. This move was more than a reality check for Jude as he started a job working in the technical field at Precision Sensors as a production technician, soon moving up to a production supervisor, which is the position he currently holds.

Jude's other passion is law enforcement. He has worked in all forms of security including armed security, bail enforcement, protective services, and club security.

Sports have always continued to be an important aspect of Jude's life. Power lifting and soccer were the two activities that Jude enjoyed to participate in. Although Jude had higher aspirations to play professional soccer he was not able to accomplish this goal due to a fractured ankle in 2002. Even though Jude had broken his ankle he continued to go to the gym daily. His rehabilitation with physical therapy turned into bodybuilding and he found it becoming more and more compelling.

Jude was a member of World Gym and with encouragement of Mike Katz he began to train for the NPC Connecticut show that took place in November 2003. At this show Jude won first place and overall in the heavyweight novice and first place in the open heavyweight class.

Bodybuilding was a dream come true for Jude, because after being told by doctors that he would have a limp in his walk due to his ankle injury he then went on to completely rehabilitate his ankle and achieve his new bodybuilding goals regardless. After overcoming his injury and reaching his goals he set higher goals of becoming champion natural bodybuilder and to work towards becoming a police officer.

In 2004 Jude encouraged his brothers Isaac and Kingsley to also compete at the NPC Connecticut show. Jude again won first place in men's heavyweight but fell short of winning the overall to his long time friend Charles Moore, who Jude had beaten the year before. Since then, Jude and his brothers have shared the spotlight with Charles Moore in the New Haven Register for being local top natural bodybuilders.

Jude is looking forward to his new challenge of competing at Musclemania Atlantic in April 2005.
