Jodie Goldberg Cohen
Jodie received her Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1998 and her Master's Degree in Teaching from Simmons College in 1999, she has been teaching High School Biology and Anatomy and Physiology at Newton North High School since 1999. She became a certified personal trainer in 2003 and is a certified spinning instructor through Madd Dogg Athletics.
Jodie's athletic career began very late in life as she was a childhood sufferer of asthma. After spending most of her life "on the bench" she decided to change things once she got to college. She began running a mile a day, then 2, then 3. Before she knew it, she was running local 10k road races and placing in triathlons throughout the Boston area. That was the beginning of Jodie's love with fitness. From there she never looked back.
After the birth of her son, Charlie, in 1995, Jodie wanted to get back into shape, but found it more difficult after having a child. She bought a weight-training book from the local book store and began what turned out to be a life altering experience. The way her body began to change using weights was unlike anything that running, biking or swimming ever did for her. Her physique became strong and lean and more sculpted than ever before. Three years later she began competing in fitness and bikini competitions and still does to this day. Jodie is the reigning New England Fitness Atlantic Tall Class Bikini Champion and has two top 10 finishes in Fitness America competitions. She was a top three finisher at the National Fitness Universe Competition in Miami in June of 2005. Her dream for next season is a top five finish in fitness. Let's keep our fingers crossed for her!
